The Grand Canyon

Photos from a hike down the south Kaibab trail, up the Bright Angel trail. The trails start at an elevation of around 7000 feet, dropping to near 2000 at the Colorado river. The rocks are from 250 million to 1.7 billion years old, although the Colorado has cut through all the rock layers in just 6 million years.

Mules are another way to get to bottom of the canyon and back.
